Marine Instrumentation and Control Systems Explained
Reeds Vol 10: Instrumentation and Control Systems is a fully revised edition covering instrumentation and control systems as applied to marine engineering. Written for professional trainees preparing for Merchant Navy Certificates of Competency (CoC) and for undergraduate students of Marine or Electrical Engineering, the book provides both practical and theoretical understanding of control technologies at sea.
Topics range from basic measurement devices to complex automated control systems, including signal conditioning, digitisation and SMART sensors. The book also explores electrical equipment used in hazardous areas, with detail on hazards, gas groups, temperature classifications and types of protection, including intrinsic safety and encapsulation.
With worked examples and self-study questions throughout, this is an essential text for anyone studying Engineering Knowledge or working towards modern maritime qualifications.
