Rule of the Road Books

The International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGs) are something every sailor needs to know, from Day Skipper candidates to serving deck officers. This collection covers the collision regulations in full, with texts ranging from pocket-sized rule books to detailed commentaries and study guides.

If you are studying for an RYA qualification, the rules of the road will form a major part of your theory exam. COLREGs are also examined in depth at MCA orals for certificates of competency. The right book depends on your level: some titles present the rules plainly for quick reference, others explain the reasoning behind them with worked examples and case studies of real collisions.
