Interchangeable Tips

Versatile and Accurate

The Weems & Plath Fixed Point Dividers are a straightforward, reliable tool for chartwork and technical drawing. Constructed from lightweight nickel-plated brass with a matte finish, they're built to last without unnecessary complexity – just two legs, two points, and the precision you need.

Whether you're measuring distances on a nautical chart, transferring measurements between scales, or marking positions during passage planning, these dividers do the job well. They're equally at home in a navigation classroom, on the chart table of a yacht, or at a drafting desk.

Features
  • 6 inches (15.24 cm) long
  • Fixed stainless steel points
  • Nickel-plated brass construction with matte finish
  • Lightweight and easy to handle
  • Made in Germany
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty
How to Use Dividers on a Chart

To measure a distance within the span of the dividers, place one point on each position on the chart, then transfer the spread to the latitude scale at the side margin or the chart's graphic distance scale to read off the distance.

For longer distances that exceed the dividers' span, set them to a convenient number of whole units on the latitude or distance scale. Step the dividers along the line by swinging one leg past the other, counting each step. Then pick up the remaining distance by adjusting the dividers to fit the leftover span and reading it off the scale.
