Fifty Years of Seamanship and Adventure

A collection of Skip Novak’s sailing wisdom, combining practical seamanship, innovation and adventure, drawn from his Yachting World columns and 50 years at sea.

Skip Novak is revered around the world for his sailing adventures. In this book he brings together the sum of his knowledge and the wisdom of his experience so readers can follow in his wake – or create their own.

Drawing from his longstanding column for Yachting World, Skip has curated, edited and updated his original missives alongside new material to make a collection that is both thought-provoking and practical. An ardent proponent of self-reliance, his hard-won advice challenges sailors to improve their seamanship, focusing on skill, experience and problem-solving knowledge.

While covering traditional skills such as celestial navigation, anchoring and docking, Skip also looks ahead to emerging technologies that can make life afloat easier. His passion for helping new and younger sailors embrace the call of adventure runs throughout his thoughtful and honest writing.

Steeped in personal experience yet designed to be as inspirational as it is practical, Skip Novak on Sailing will help readers become better sailors, no matter their level of experience.
