About the Author

Alexandr Yakimchuk has over 30 years’ experience in marine automation. He graduated from State Maritime Academy in 1987 with a Master’s degree in Marine Automation and Electrical Installations Engineering. His sea service includes work on cruise liners, where he rose to the position of Chief Electrical Engineer.

Since 1997, he has worked with a German ship management company overseeing a fleet of container and heavy lift vessels, and became superintendent for automation in 2000. He undertakes inspections, repairs, and online troubleshooting for the company fleet. Alexandr is also a trainer for Marlow Navigation, where he has trained over 2,500 marine engineers, and is active in circuit simulation and CG modelling. He has worked with Witherby Publishing Group since 2010 as an author and consultant in marine automation.
