Completely Rewritten by Rachael Sprot

Passage notes, pilotage, Imray plans, aerial photographs and Ashore sections for the south coast of England, the Channel Islands and north France.

A pilot for the English Channel: the south coast of England from the Isles of Scilly to North Foreland, the Channel Islands and the north coast of France.

Rachael Sprot, a journalist, author and Yachtmaster Examiner, has completely rewritten the pilot from her own research over several seasons. It contains:

  • passage notes
  • advice on navigation, regulations and paperwork
  • pilotage notes
  • Imray cartography, aerial photographs and an overview of facilities
  • Ashore sections on local history and information
History of the pilot

First published in the 1930s, the pilot was the work of Adlard Coles until it passed to Captain John Coote RN in 1982 and then to Tom Cunliffe. It has been under the Imray imprint since the early 1990s.

About Imray

Imray has been publishing nautical information for recreational and professional mariners since the mid-18th century. Today it is part of FB Imray, a joint venture with the Austrian cartographers freytag & berndt. Imray is recognised by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency as a chart producer, and publishes pilot books, cruising guides, almanacs and navigation handbooks alongside its charts.
