Checklists for Confident Skippers
Practical Skipper is a concise and practical aide-memoire that consolidates all essential sailing knowledge into clear, easy-to-use checklists.
When learning to skipper a yacht, practical courses cover a vast range of topics – from passage planning to pilotage and berthing. But how can you be sure to remember the essentials months or even years later? This book provides the solution.
Drawing on his extensive experience as a sailing instructor, Bill Johnson presents all the key information a skipper needs, using bullet points, straightforward explanations, and clear diagrams. Each section serves as a reminder of best practice afloat – reassurance for new skippers that nothing vital has been forgotten, and a reliable refresher for the more experienced.
These are the notes you wish you’d written down during your RYA training, brought together in a single, easy-to-navigate reference for quick consultation before, during, or after a voyage.
