Plan Your Star Sights

2102-D star base and ten templates in a pouch

The 2102-D star finder: a white plastic star base 8½ inches (21.6 cm) across and ten clear templates, in a black vinyl pouch with a Velcro closure.

It gives the approximate altitude and azimuth of the 57 navigational stars in the almanac, so you can plan which stars to take at twilight, and identifies a star you have already taken a sight of. Further diagrams check the hour angle and handle the planets and other bodies not printed on the base. Basic instructions are on the back of the protective sleeve; the full explanation is in David Burch's The Star Finder Book, sold separately. Limited lifetime warranty.
