Dhufar to Musandam

53 anchorages and marinas along 3,165km of Omani coast, with plans from the authors’ own surveys, weather guidance and itineraries.

Sailing Oman is a 350-page cruising guide to the coast of Oman, which lies between the Arabian Sea, the Sea of Oman and the Arabian Gulf and sees few visiting yachts. It covers the coast from Dhufar in the south to the fjord-like inlets of Musandam in the north.

Reem Askalan and Jaoudat Kazoun spent six years sailing their catamaran Flaneur along the 3,165km coastline, surveying as they went, and documented 53 anchorages.

The guide includes:

  • notes on anchorages and marinas covering approach, hazards and facilities
  • plans drawn from the authors’ own bathymetric surveys
  • aerial and sea-level photographs
  • regional information, local weather and practical advice for preparing to cruise a region where services can be limited outside Muscat
  • the country’s seafaring heritage, culture and landscapes
  • itineraries for passage-makers and for more leisurely cruising, with suggestions for visits ashore
