Authoritative sailing directions for Clyde and beyond

Expanded and updated by Geoff Crowley – this edition includes new plans, Belfast coverage, and references to Antares and Imray chart packs.

Firth of Clyde: Including Solway Firth and North Channel is part of the Clyde Cruising Club’s long-respected Sailing Directions and Anchorages series. This edition extends coverage well beyond its title area to include the coast of Northern Ireland (Rathlin Island to Belfast Lough) and, on the Scottish side, from Stranraer to Portpatrick and the Solway Firth, continuing into Cumbria.

It covers the busy waters of the Firth of Clyde and River Clyde as well as more remote areas such as the protected and scenic Kyles of Bute and Loch Riddon, Loch Fyne, and the Crinan Canal. Coverage then broadens west and south to encompass the North Channel and Solway Firth.

Updated by Geoff Crowley, this new edition includes extended coverage of the North Channel, with new details for Belfast itself. It features updated plans, references to the Imray 2900 Firth of Clyde chart pack, and Bob Bradfield’s large-scale Antares charts. New photographs throughout enhance the text and support onboard navigation.

Whether you're a local sailor or visiting cruiser, Firth of Clyde remains an essential companion for these waters.

Praise for Firth of Clyde

“Drawing upon an impressive list of sources… All charts, photographs and commentary provide unique information for sailors wishing to undertake real or ‘virtual’ cruises in the finest areas of west and northeast Scotland; those of us who have cruised there in the past can only look with envy on all the Digital, wishing that these fine publications had been available in our day!”

About Clyde Cruising Club

The Clyde Cruising Club is one of Scotland’s leading sailing organisations. Since 1909, it has published Sailing Directions for Scottish waters – first as the well-known Blue Book, and since 1974 in a series of regional volumes. Since 2011, these have been gradually merged with Martin Lawrence’s Yachtsman’s Pilot series (Imray), with editorial control remaining with the Club. In its centenary year, the Club published Cruising Scotland, a companion volume offering a beautifully illustrated overview of Scotland’s west coast from the Solway Firth to Cape Wrath.
