Watch the Trend

Brass barometer with a 5-inch open dial

An aneroid barometer from Weems & Plath's Endurance II 135 range: a 5-inch (127 mm) open dial, showing the movement, in a brass case 7 inches (178 mm) across and 2½ inches (64 mm) deep. The movement is temperature compensated and adjustable, with scales in inches and millibars, and calibrated for use up to 3,500 feet.

The brass has a high-lustre, maintenance-free, ultra-hard finish that Weems & Plath guarantees never to tarnish or scratch. The case is weather resistant, with a traditional porthole bezel that opens at the front, and bevelled glass. It comes with fittings for mounting on board or ashore. Lifetime warranty on the finish and the movement.

Reading a barometer

Note the reading every few hours: the trend matters more than the figure. A fall of more than 3 millibars in three hours often means wind on the way.
