Singapore to Hong Kong
Area and harbour plans in full colour, with weather, typhoon and piracy-risk guidance for planning a cruise around the South China Sea.
The first edition of South China Sea, an RCC Pilotage Foundation guide and successor to Stephen Davies and Elaine Morgan's Cruising Guide to Southeast Asia, Volume I (Imray), updated and expanded to cover Cambodia and Taiwan. It covers thousands of miles of coastline and many islands, and runs inland up many of the region's navigable rivers.
The introduction covers cruise planning, weather including typhoons, and piracy risk areas to avoid. The sailing directions use small-scale area plans for orientation and larger-scale plans of harbours and anchorages. It is in full colour throughout, with plans and photographs.
About the author
Jo Winter has cruised these waters for 12 years in her 45ft Island Packet, Brother Wind.
Praise for South China Sea
“Jo Winter's book offers passage-planning advice (including crossing the terrifyingly busy Far Eastern shipping lanes) with detailed cruising guidance from Singapore to Hong Kong via the Gulf of Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei, the Philippines and Taiwan. It's an area with complex winds and tides; few dedicated yachting facilities, typhoons, crocodiles, poverty and piracy. Winter's approach is informed by common-sense, experience and cultural sensitivity as well as her receptiveness to beauty and fascination with sea areas where one can cruise for months without seeing another yacht. A truly impressive book.”

About the Royal Cruising Club Pilotage Foundation
Imray has worked with the Royal Cruising Club Pilotage Foundation since 1985. The Foundation is a charity which collects and researches pilotage, navigation and weather information for small boats, including from remote areas where other sources are scarce or non-existent. Imray draws the cartography and produces each book from the Foundation's researched and edited material.
About Imray
Imray has been publishing nautical information for recreational and professional mariners since the mid-18th century. Today it is part of FB Imray, a joint venture with the Austrian cartographers freytag & berndt. Imray is recognised by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency as a chart producer, and publishes pilot books, cruising guides, almanacs and navigation handbooks alongside its charts.
