Margaret Ness to Putney Bridge
General advice and local rules, the place names you will hear on the radio, and the hazards upriver on a fold-out chart.
This small book is intended mainly for leisure boaters who are not familiar with the Thames through central London, though Part 2 may help even the most seasoned watermen.
It covers the river from Margaret Ness in the east to Putney Bridge in the west, the stretch for which most commercial skippers need a local knowledge endorsement. It is a very busy part of the Thames, with every type of craft likely to be met.
The book is in three parts:
- general information and advice, mentioning the local rules that apply
- a list of places whose names you may read or hear on the radio
- the hazards you will meet on the way upriver, shown on a fold-out chart
