Corfu to Finakounda
Eleventh edition with new photographs and plans, giving more detail on the smaller Ionian harbours and anchorages than Greek Waters Pilot.
The eleventh edition of Ionian has again been updated with new photographs and plans.
It covers the coast and islands from Corfu south to Finakounda and east to Mesolongion, with more detail on many of the smaller anchorages and harbours than Rod Heikell’s Greek Waters Pilot gives.
Like its companions West Aegean and East Aegean, it suits charterers and flotilla sailors aboard for a short time, and owners cruising their own yachts who want more pilotage and background information for the area.
About the authors
Rod and Lucinda Heikell write guides to the coasts and islands of the Mediterranean. Rod has spent nearly 40 years cruising these waters. Lu joined him as crew on a passage from the Azores to Gibraltar in 1999, and they have worked on books together for over twenty years. They live on the Isle of Wight when not aboard Skylax, their 46ft Warwick-designed New Zealand boat.
Their Imray pilot books and almanacs include Greek Waters Pilot, Italian Waters Pilot, Turkish Waters and Cyprus Pilot, Mediterranean France and Corsica Pilot, Ionian, West Aegean, East Aegean and The Mediterranean Almanac (as editors).
Praise for Ionian
“Heikell’s style is easy to digest and gives pleasure in the details of the history, geography and social circumstances of the places described as well as the essential sailing information.”
– The Little Ship
“Rod Heikell nowadays is to the Mediterranean as gin is to tonic. It is difficult to imagine sailing there without one of his guides. Clear pilot notes, chartlets and plentiful illustrations, with entertaining commentaries on each place. Up-to-date observations on local and national regulations. The new edition does not disappoint. If one must choose, I would have no hesitation in recommending Heikell.”
– Cruising Association
“Rod has a knack for dropping in snippets of interest and colour to give the reader a feel for the atmosphere of each port or bay.”
– Yachting Monthly
“Like all Rod Heikell’s pilots, it is also a travel guide in its own right.”
– Ionian Magazine
“The sailing directions are particularly useful when entering the smaller anchorages and harbours, for which little information is to be found on charts, and include excellent harbour plans and top quality aerial photographs.”
– Flying Fish (Ocean Cruising Club)
