Over 300 Stopping Places
Stopping places across all 12 Dutch provinces, from large harbours to places well off the beaten track, with nearly 100 described in detail.
With 6,000km of navigable waterways, the Netherlands is one of the most extensive yet compact cruising grounds in Europe. David Broad and Louise Busby's book is a user's guide to the whole network, covering all the mast-up routes and leaving out only waterways with less than 3.5m bridge height.
Navigational details are given for each waterway: dimensions, obstacles to expect, and how bridges and locks are operated. Then come over 300 stopping places across all 12 provinces, from large or popular harbours to places well off the beaten track. Nearly 100 'principal venues' are described more fully, with things to see and do, facilities ashore and the authors' restaurant tips.
It is written for the whole crew, not just the skipper or navigator: how to approach a place, and what to see or do on arrival. The illustrations give a flavour of the country and prepare the visiting yachtsman, under power or sail.
