Love, Leaks and Life on the Waterways
All Boats Are Sinking is a warm, chaotic and hilarious memoir of love, heartbreak and survival aboard a narrowboat. In the wake of a break-up, Hannah Pierce does what any rational person might not: she buys a narrowboat and plunges into a new life afloat, full of exploding toilets, awkward towpath encounters and spontaneous reinvention.
From the canals of London to the waterways of West Yorkshire, Hannah charts her journey through pandemic burnout, ill-advised relationships and the highs and lows of solo boating. Along the way she questions modern womanhood, independence and the endless pursuit of love – all while trying to keep her boat (and herself) afloat.
Peppered with lists, footnotes, diagrams and a healthy dose of dry wit, this is a relatable and delightfully messy account of finding freedom – and a bit of perspective – off-grid. Perfect for fans of Dolly Alderton, Helen Fielding and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
