Tackle the ISM Code

Covers audits, risk assessments and safety roles – this Q&A book helps officers prepare clear, compliant answers on safety management system topics.

International Safety and Risk Management: Orals Prep Series 2 focuses on the ISM Code and its application aboard merchant navy ships and superyachts. Designed as a Q&A-based study guide, it helps deck and technical officers prepare for their STCW oral examinations through repeated self-testing and clear topic breakdowns.

The book covers definitions, roles and responsibilities, statutory certificates and records, audit procedures, non-conformities, hazards, risk assessments and permits to work. These topics form a core part of the STCW requirements for monitoring shipboard safety and regulatory compliance under A/II and A/III competencies.

Part of the Orals Prep Series, this volume builds on the foundation set by Series 1 and continues to support officers in delivering structured, confident answers during their oral assessments.
