A Journey Through Britain’s Canal Heritage

From Somerset to the Hebrides, John Sergeant uncovers the history, charm and cultural significance of the UK’s remarkable inland waterways.

Barging Round Britain is the official companion to the ITV series Barging Through Britain, returning in 2016 with popular TV journalist John Sergeant as presenter. He contributes the foreword and introductions to this engaging and informative book.

It explores the history of Britain's waterways, from their role in the Industrial Revolution to their part in the 2012 Olympics, offering a vivid portrait of the people and places that have shaped this national treasure.
