9 countries, 1 comprehensive guide
This comprehensive volume provides an overview of the Baltic Sea and its approaches from the west for cruising sailors. Thoroughly overhauled by editor Andy Beharrell, much of the text has been rewritten since the last edition, with useful photos and detailed plans updated throughout.
The nine countries bordering the Baltic Sea offer an immense variety of cruising grounds, people and cultures. There are thousands of harbours and innumerable anchorages. The information contained in this book provides edited highlights chosen for their value both at the planning stages and again on arrival, when a general overview of each individual country is followed by specific harbour information.
Where detailed cruising information is readily available – effectively Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Finland – only selected harbours are covered, chosen, with a few exceptions, as fulfilling certain key needs. Where cruising information is more limited – Poland, Kaliningrad, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Russia – many smaller harbours are also featured in detail.
Beautiful, secluded anchorages, picturesque canals, bustling marinas, dramatic cities – all await those considering a Baltic cruise.
About the Editor
Andy Beharrell has indulged a lifelong passion for sailing, from dinghies such as Fireballs and GP14s to offshore racers and cruising boats. His sailing has taken him all over the UK and Europe. He is currently based in the Baltic, exploring the region’s extensive and beautiful cruising grounds. When not in the Baltic, he can often be found on the River Orwell in Suffolk, where he supports the Woolverstone Project – a charity offering sailing for people with disabilities, with which he has been involved for many years.
About Royal Cruising Club Pilotage Foundation
Imray has worked with the Royal Cruising Club Pilotage Foundation since 1985. The Foundation is a charity which collects and researches written, photographic and chart information relating to small boat pilotage, navigation and operation, climate and weather conditions, including information from remote areas of the world where other sources of information are scarce or non-existent.
The authors who work with the Foundation are respected and experienced cruising sailors, with thousands of nautical miles of cruising under their belts.
Once the Pilotage Foundation has researched and edited the material about a particular cruising area, Imray shapes it into a book, creating the cartography (often where there is very little official survey data as a source) and combining this with the manuscript and photos to create a new cruising guide.
About Imray
