A Lavish Tribute to Queen Mary’s Storied Legacy

Updated and richly illustrated, this expanded edition celebrates the world’s most beloved ocean liner – from Atlantic crossings to her life in Long Beach.

RMS Queen Mary: The World’s Favourite Liner is a richly illustrated tribute to one of the most iconic ships ever built. First launched in 1936 and now preserved in Long Beach, California, the Queen Mary’s story is a tale of maritime innovation, wartime heroism and enduring public fascination.

From her triumph in claiming the Blue Riband to carrying over 800,000 troops during the Second World War and hosting millions of passengers across three decades, this Cunard superliner played a central role in 20th-century transatlantic travel. This newly expanded edition brings her story fully up to date, chronicling her life as a floating hotel and museum since 1967, and exploring the challenges and controversies of her preservation.

Lavishly produced and packed with rare photographs – from her construction to her current berth – this volume will captivate ocean liner enthusiasts, maritime historians and anyone fascinated by the golden age of sea travel.
