About the Author

Robert Dearn established Anchorlight Publishing after building and selling a leading West Country Admiralty Chart Agent and Nautical Bookshop. A lifelong sailor, his career began with dinghy sailing as a teenager and progressed through the Marine Craft section of the RAF and the Island Cruising Club in Salcombe, Devon. He advanced from dinghy sailing instructor to mate and skipper aboard a variety of historic vessels, including the 72ft gaff schooner Hoshi, the 70ft Brixham trawler Provident, and the 49ft yawl Speedwell.

Dearn holds numerous qualifications, including Yachtmaster, Yachtmaster Instructor, and Yachtmaster Examiner. He has authored several maritime guides and logbooks, including Ropework for Yachtsmen (now out of print), the RYA Personal Logbook G73, the RYA Sail & Power Logbook G109, and The Adlard Coles Maintenance Logbook. His Cockpit Card series has also been incorporated into the Norwegian publication Skipperens Cockpit-Guide. Dearn also served as Harbour Master on the River Yealm in South Devon for six years.
